Northampton’s industrial zones are comprehensive, and the distribution sector is one of the strongest. Also, many warehouses are based in the town, demanding workforce all the time.

As we mentioned, Northampton is home of the University of Northampton, which offers endless courses, from base and undergraduate levels to professional, postgraduate, and doctorate qualifications. Although it is one of the newest universities in the UK, the University of Northampton has been rapidly evolving and developing, attracting a diverse student body and faculty.

Because of that, people related to the university look for all types of accommodation in Northampton. Guest speakers and lecturers visit all year round and stay short-term (mostly preferring SA units). At the same time, every year, students move for more extended periods, choosing longer-term options that allow them to share expenses, like HMOs.

Not only that – the University of Northampton offers the popular model of distance learning widely. This means that it creates a higher demand for more lecturers depending on the number of students, who are often based internationally.

Northampton’s industrial zones are comprehensive, and the distribution sector is one of the strongest. Many warehouses are based in the town, demanding workforce all the time, especially in holiday seasons (some companies based in Northampton are Avon Products, Nationwide Building Society, Coca Cola, Carlsberg, and Panasonic). Because of the town’s constant development and all the big companies, construction is also always high on demand at Northampton. Contractors keep visiting the town to help with new projects and mostly stay in corporate lets and SA units.

As Northampton is a home to Northampton Town F.C., there are many visiting trainers, players, staff,  and – of course – fans. This is why weekends in Northampton are always full of life and amazing leisure guests.

What Is Happening Now?

Recently, a new campus of the University of Northampton was opened. The £330 million Waterside campus was designed to adapt to 21st-century teaching. It offers many integrated learning environments and a 24/ library and learning zone. This campus will attract even more international students who will move to Northampton.

The town’s community has also been engaging even more in charitable and volunteering activities. They have been forming large groups that create a higher sense of community and attract more people from England to help. This is a strong reason why non-residents are looking for more short-term accommodations.

Council Plans For The Future

Northampton council is confident, and plans for a brighter future that will help current residents while encouraging more people to move. Firstly, 1,600 new homes will start being built, and the project to create eight hectares of employment space on the northeastern edge of Northampton is being sped up. This development is part of a more comprehensive scheme.  It aims to deliver even more buildings – 3,500 homes, 10 hectares of employment land and convenience stores. Secondly, they also focus on a new primary school, a community centre, healthcare facilities, sport and leisure facilities and road transport and infrastructure improvements.

Besides that project, which will be located on land east of the A43 Kettering Road, the council is also planning to revamp one of the oldest and largest markets in the UK, the Northampton Market Square, and Abington Street, the main shopping area.

Property Investment In Northampton

Northampton is clearly a place with high property interest and demand. Students, lecturers, big leisure groups of guests, corporate professionals, seasonal workers and contractors are always visiting and looking for places to stay. Because of the characteristics of the guests and their needs, we recommend choosing to invest in SA or HMO.

Students, corporate professionals and contractors, for example, may look for long-term options in Northampton but are likely to share the place – choosing HMO. However, lecturers and other professionals staying for only a few days or weeks will probably search for a short-term option that is cheaper than a hotel – SA is an excellent substitute.
